Robert drifted into HO !!

edited October 21 in Miscellaneous
In Antwerp, we have the MTS. This the Model Train Support. An organization/club which provides help for model train hobbyists. Building layouts, electronics, and my department : scenery. So every year I give a few clinics on a scenery related subject.
Begin October, we made this train buffer. The old school version. Since 99 % of those participants work in HO scale, well, I had to adapt and work in HO as well....

We talked about which wood to use, giving wood structure, weathering it, simulate concrete and making everything nicely come together so each one went home with a fine result.

Because of the step by step approach , and a limit of 12 people per clinic, everyone can follow and gets personal aid and follow up from me.

Here is the result. The wooden sleepers are made in poplar ( was at hand) the concrete is made out of the inside of architects cardboard, the inner foam part.

  • Excellent weathering, colour and texture, as usual.
  • Thanks guys !!
  • Very unique buffer, have never seen one like that. Excellent execution! Why does the horizontal beam have what looks like concrete layered on? To maintain the integrity of the beam over time?
