45th National Narrow Gauge Convention

Hello fellow forum members. It is almost that time of year again. I hope to see some of you at the narrow gauge convention in the St. Louis area September, 3rd through the 6th. I am the contest chair, so bring some of your great Sierra West models to enter. Even if you don't bring a model please come and stop by the contest room and say hi. Hope to see you in the contest room. Randy Meyer RandyP

  • Randy, I attended the convention, and entered a model in the contest. I didn't know you were a SWSM forum member. It was a great convention. Well done! Thanks to you and all the organizers for their hard work.
  • Thanks Tom, It was a lot of work but a lot of fun too. We had 122 models and photos entered. What model did you enter? Randy
  • I entered the HO scale machine shop.

  • Superb Tom...winner in my book!
  • Excellent craftsmanship!
  • I had posted many more photos of this build back in March 2020 after I finished it. The discussion is called "Machine Shop-My Interpretation" It's footprint is based on the Deer Creek Machine Shop, but I made it about 20% larger to accommodate the machinery inside.
  • I remember spending time looking at this model...I am always amazed at how well detailed some of the HO stuff is....a great build...
  • Thanks for the nice comments guys! Appreciate it. Art, I took your clinic on details. Enjoyed it very much. Got some great tips. Had I known who you were I would have struck up a conversation about the forum.
  • I wish you had....I think we may have met in Hickory a few years back...
  • Had I known I would have. I was not at Hickory. My last convention was Denver.
  • Agreed with Ken that yours looks like a winner, Tom. Quite a number of details. I haven't been to a Narrow Gauge Convention. Will try next year as it would be great to see, and learn more from modelers here.
  • Thanks Craig. The convention is a great experience. Lots of good clinics to learn from, Many inspirational layouts to view, and of course the vending room full of tempting goodies.
  • As Tom has said...its a great place to network....learn in the clinics....and find treasures on the vendors tables....
  • Very nice machine shop. I remember looking at it and thinking about so much detail in such a small space. Thanks for coming and entering a model. Randy
  • Thanks guys. It has been a fun build and the convention was really great!
