  Code 83 rail is best for On3, or code 100 for O gauge main line. Many sources have these, I use Micro Engineering (Walther). The rail is easily blackened in preparation for weathering with Jax Pewter Black or similar. I also prefer Micro Engineering #30-108 spikes, though they are becoming difficult to find. Fast Tracks is another good source for hand laying supplies.

  Thanks, just to clarify, what I'm looking for is single rails, not already assembled track with ties. I looked at both sources but they look to be already assembled lengths of track. Am I misinterpreting something?

  Buy micro engineering "bridge" track, code 83.
  It is a 3' long piece of flex track and two loose rails to be used as guide rails on the bridge.
  The rails on the plastic ties pull off the ties easily and you end up with 4 x 3' long pieces of code 83 rail for a good price.
  That is what I have always used on my dioramas.
  
  If you cant get the bridge track just get some code 83 flex track, the rails pull off easily from the plastic ties.
  
  The rail is loose on flex track and peels right off.
  
  Make sure you get code 83 and not 100.

  I would never contradict Karl, but I use FastTracks rails which I also believe are from Micro Engineering. They have many different size track, it comes in lengths of 18" and 36". This is just the rails, no ties. They have both code 83 and 100 rail sizes, along with other sizes.

  That is no contradiction, but thank you, sometimes its just quicker/easier to get your hands on a piece of flex track and pull the rails off rather than have to order loose rail from somewhere.

  I did source the individual rails from FastTracks and they were perfect for the O'Neill's tracks and they were very reasonable in price
