  • Eric,

Is Golden Arts Supply Mica Gel what you used to create the rear window of the truck at the center of the junk pile?
Please share a product number for the mica gel and a short explanation of how it was applied etc.. Or even better yet, a short tutorial!

    Thanks, Dave S. Tucson, AZ

    Steve,

I just happen to currently be working on a Berkshire Valley Models O-Scale Tow Truck model, so I recognized many of the misc. parts that are in this casting as some of the component parts of the kit. Some examples are the wheels and exhaust system parts.

Here is a link to the junk pile:

Thanks guys but I meant more something that identifies what each casting represents. Drums and acetylene tanks are easy but some of the other details can be hard to figure out.
  • Diner gets a grinder.

  • I'm out of adjectives to describe your work. Where do you find these details?
  • gulliver's grinder.... :)
  • I know the coffee grinder looks too large, but it is very accurate for an 1880 grinder at over 5 feet. Hops bought it while drunk at an auction and refuses to admit his mistake. Besides, fresh ground beans make the best coffee.

  • Mountain, I make most of the details from different combinations of bits. The coffee grinder was a $5 kit.
  • Poolroom in Maine.

  • Breakfast?

    IMG_0256
  • you're such a show off.....lol
  • Keb, I buy breakfast, but you got supper. Okay?
  • hot dogs, hamburgers, spaghetti and meat balls.
  • That’s extraordinary Eric.
  • I think the eggs came out good. Just paint. Happy to share the secret.

My father Marshall S Green was the really good modeler. Here he is in about 1940 at 16 years old.

  • Looks delicious
  • it does. a bit greasy maybe, but that's the perfect breakfast.
yes eric, we would love to know the egg secret.
  • White acrylic dabbled with the brush so there is variation. Dot the yolk on with the tip of the brush (yellow) about six times drying between. The secret: GAC 100 clear acrylic. Dot on for shine and depth about three times.
  • thanks eric.
  • The secrets of an artist normal modelers never learn. Thanks.
  • Delighted to help.
  • Great job! Love the scene that looks into the door. the flooring looks so well weather beaten.
  • That’s a great scene but then you’re certainly consistent in that department!
  • Spend as much time in poolrooms as I did, it comes easy!

  • Is that the gambler under that hat?
  • Oh ! I thought it was a scene from the Hustler (1961)
