Great progress Jerry. The paint peel on the doors and windows looks great. Your overall construction is very precise, so important on a project like this...its all about fit and finish!
As Brett said, "Love the color." In fact I had been meaning to ask you how you achieved the look of the lightly tinted unweathered interior side of the wood with the more weathered look on the exterior side? It is very effective and realistic and something I'd like to learn how to do.
Ed we were at the beach today with the dog it was 58 here. God I'm sweating! Thanks for looking.
Dave I use 2x12 on the interior its Minwax Golden Oak I lay the strip down on newspaper and take a rag an just start at the top and go down the strip if there's two much stain its gets on the paper instead of the other side. On the exterior I used Hunters Medium Brown and use a dapper and just did the same way. You might get a little on the other side but if rub it off right away with your finger its fine. Hope that helps.

Waiting on wood to finish the main building.

It's 'sharp' and distinctive, just the way a peel should be.
Nice work.

Just using the old Chuck Doan way of doing it.
If you need the how to I can post it for you.
Jerry
I've been enjoying this build for some time now.
If you could post the Chuck Doan way of doing the "paint peel" effect I for one would appreciate it. I like his method and your way of interpreting/applying it because it shows weathering that has just begun on an otherwise maintained structure.

Thanks for passing on those staining tips. I'll be testing them soon after I pick up some Minwax and Hunters.
