by the way, i went downstairs and couldn't smell the mineral spirits until i sat down at the bench. the four walls still reek of it. oh well. i imagine it'll be a few days before that goes away.
i got the store walls prepped and the warehouse walls glued to the back of th gable wall. (no pic of that) i realize i didn't peel any paint, but in spite of that i just liked the way these look. because it's so 'rundown, i had to hit the warehouse walls with my new batch of homemade silverwood to age it some, because the barn and the store look so old.
jim, the blinds were brett's idea (in the manual) robert, it's not my first rodeo. i hid one in the logging and tractor repair. (but def got the idear from you my friend) thanks brett and ken.
Ha !!! my idea of putting the SW label somewhere on the structure, discrete or not, has followers.. Good.
One of my builds in 2011.... glad to see you thought it was a good idea.
Some light sanding on the sign with smooth sand paper will fade the sign a little and make it fit in with the great weathered wall, also, a light dusting of 408.3 or 408.5 chalk will dull down the white letters and make it fit in better.
Lookin' great Kev. It's really coming together and your choice of colors is really unique and sets this one apart from so many others. Great ideas. Love the Sierra West sign!!
i'm glad this is done! fiddly thing for a guy with a shaky hand. took me two days (a couple hours each day). its not perfect, but then, nothin' i do is.
my wife is in the middle of a shingles breakout, so i probably won't be down there much for a couple weeks. we'll see....
That's a classic stairway and adds so much character to the structure, Brett nailed this design and well worth the effort...a model in a model. You did a terrific job on it Kevin.
Sorry to hear about your wife. Everyone over 50 should get the shingles vaccine as its a miserable thing to get, I have never had it but know a few that have, not fun.
Thanks ken. i had a shingles vaccine scheduled for tuesday morning. i drove the 20 miles to dr office (and the twenty miles home) only to be told medicare doesn't cover it THERE, and i needed to go a pharmacy to get it. getting it next week. she's miserable. its on her forehead, right temple and right eye, and today it's moving down the right side of her face. looks pretty painful to me. she's missed work three days in a row. that's completely out of character, so i know it's pretty bad. i wish there was something i could do. well, there is. i'm cleaning the house, and when i'm done imma head downstairs for a few. heheheh....
Looks like it turned out well, Kevin. Building stairs is always a challenge for me even with the tools Brett provides us to make it easier. But yours looks good, Kevin. Hope I can do as good a job.

Sorry to hear about the Mrs. Shingles is no joke. Either is modeling with shaky hands which I do as well. Nice to overcome all that and end up with a fantastic set of stairs.
