Truck / Tractor repair....with a wee bit of Blacksmith

Started on my Truck Repair, a kit that's sat on the shelf too long. Plans are to combine it with the Tractor Repair, and add in a blacksmith shop.....needed to stop work on the Foundry for a bit. The Tractor Repair is a bit along already....and the blacksmith details are done. Kinda...I'll not post too many progress photos as this kits had multiple threads. I will document any significant diversions. Once I get to a certain point....there will be a lot to see...I hope.
I'd forgotten how much detail goes into the Truck Repair....This will all blend in on a nice sized diorama that will "puzzle piece" eventually on a mini module layout.

Just stained all of the wood.....realized I have a bunch of spun metal details to darken (something I haven't done in a while)....and not a 3D print in sight ( except for the blacksmith stuff and other additional details that will pop up....)
I also thing I'm going to do the tarpaper walls in the newer style too...now....where's my glue pot...

  • Just finish putting together the walls....not a big fan of the stick built framing....fiddly stuff....dealing with some issues....but it will all work out...
  • Looking forward to seeing this come together.
  • I'm sure your result will be fantastic Art,
At least you have the laser cut notches in the framing and a great design and templates to make things easier.
Can't wait to see your further work on another amazing SW kit.

  • First 2 walls were a bit fiddly....left and right...the front is done...working on the rear and inside now. I understand the concept...and it does look good...but being so thin....as I glue on the outside sheathing over the tarpaper, I am getting warping. I have a fix....but not sure I'd like to see this construction again. If you do a heavily detail interior such as this kit...I understand....real 2x4 walls...but it's just too thin in my opinion.
  • So much for progress.....this too will be put on hold....too many side gigs to get this done....so...I'm going to concentrate on the water tower kit to have it done for NNG....it's almost done...
  • Nice to see you have this kit on deck! I expect to see the finished Water Tank & Hand Car Maintenance Shed at the NGC in September.
  • I hope to have it there too...LOL
