Kevin, today is a new day! Hopefully you will have a better one than the previous one.

thanks tom. with the exception of the roof, it's finished! i'll try to get some natural light pictures today but it's supposed to be windy, so it'll probably be inside pics.

  • too windy for outside pics, but i finally finished the part i was the most worried about, the waterspout mechanism.
    finished downspout

only two things left to do. the lighting and the roof.
  • I agree that is a fiddly piece to work on...but looks great when done. Yours looks great. I put a light on that cross brace right above the spout on mine, ran the wires right down the side bracing.....really like your brickwork...
  • turned out great Kev.

Looks great, see, there was nothing to worry about, just get it done.
As Art mentioned the bricks (and stone) look great too.
  • In short.... everything looks great !!! Well done Kev.
  • hey, thanks everybody. i think i'll try to finish the shingles tomorrow.
  • Looks like you have it worked out Kevin, well done!
  • i built a cradle at the same pitch as the truss so i could finish shingling the roof off of the model, then i took it outside for some natural light shots.
i ordered some leds two days ago and once i get them i'll install them, glue the roof down and this baby is finished. what a great kit this is!
    front natural light
    right side natural light
    right rear quarter natural light
    rear natural light
    left rear quarter natural light
    left side natural light
    overhead natural light
    interior in the sun

  • thanks everyone. i have to agree with brett. i this is my best one so far. i really loved working on this kit.
yesterday i took an 8" long 1/8" drill bit and drilled a hole in the corner just inside the large door. then i ran up to the liquor store and bought some collins straws that are 1/8" and i managed to get the straw inserted in the hole ready for the leds.

hopefully when it's all said and done this is gonna slide ride into place next to the woodcutter's shack and you won't be able to see where i gnawed the foam...

  • Great job, Kevin. This turned out really well and looks super. You hit it out of the ballpark on this one.
  • Looks great !
  • lol...I figured you were going to incorporate into your layout...just had to mess with ya!
  • Looking really good Kevin, great job on the colors and weathering....
  • thanks guys. i really like the way it turned out.
  • Actually, I pretty much like that one side of the “chewed up” edge of foam….paint that up just so and I swear it could pass for a rock retaining wall
