  • I'm looking forward to the walkway also. It's going to tie everything together so nice.
  • Like how everything is coming together...
  • Thanks gents, for your kind words. Brett definately sells incredible kits and the amount of enjoyable hobby time because of it is just… well… wow
  • I just love the look of the small cabins dwarfed by the towering trees. Well done!

Agreed Kevin, that walkway is magic the way it ties the scene together.
  • Beautiful scene!!

  • I completed work on the hillside of the HO-scale logging camp. The toilet and latrine bunk is in place, including the scenery around it and the walkway in front of the bunks is finished as well. I will do some touch ups here and there later on, once the rest of the diorama is done. Next will be te train station on the front left corner of the diorama but first I'm going to take a little break from the project and chance pace a bit. This is were it all stands right now. Hope you enjoy the pics, happy modelling, Jeroen

  • Very nice. I believe a cat walking down the cat walk is called for.
  • very nice! the walkway finishes it off nicely.
  • I agree with Kevin...superb work Jeroen.
  • Looks very natural. Nice work Jeroen !!
  • Thank you all! I’m glad you like it because I realized how much I still have to learn. There is such marvelous work here on display and it really pushes me to keep on improving…
  • Very well done.
  • Nice work! The walkway really ties everything together.

Looks fantastic Jeroen, the structures are superb and the scenery at this point looks great.
Don't forget, you are not showing us a 'finished model' here, just one in progress.
At this stage everything looks just right. Some chalk blending and such on the dirt to give it highlights and shadows will enhance it even more and blend everything together. Plus the other work you have yet to do.
It's a multi-step process and you are still at the beginning, from what you show here the rest will keep getting better.

Keep pushing, you are definitely on the right 'track'!
  • Hey Jeroen, what a great job.
  • Deer Creek Station must be one of my all time favorite buildings in the SW-range and Brett has done such an amazing job creating it. I just had to put it in place and I finished some basic groundwork around it. Although hardly noticeable in the pics I did a lot of reworking on the hillside as well. Karl mentioned softening the edges between the different sorts of groundwork, add highlights and shadows and I did so with pastels. Boy, he was absolutely right. It all feels so much more subtle now, so that was a huge learning step for me. With regard to the station: the docks will be loaded with trunks, travelling bags, barrels, drums, crates and more and the scenery around the station of course will get its share of attention as well. Personally I really like how the building fits the logging camp and its a huge motivator to push on. Hope you like the pics!

  • Nice work on the station. I too like this structure. I think it has that classic station look.
  • That is looking really great Jeroen, those little effects that you added have really made a big difference in the overall look and feel of the scenes, much more natural now and flows/blends together.
Love that station, one day I'll get around to building a bigger version of it, but for now, I'll just admire your work and enjoy following along with your progress and watch you finishing it into a wonderful scene.
  • Thanks Tom, thanks Karl! Your invaluable advice helped in no small matter. I hope one day I will be in a position to help someone else with suggestions because it’s such a great part of this hobby and steepens the learning curve immensely! Onward we go, all the little details and scenery…
  • Nice update. Looks right at home.
  • This depot is a favorite of mine as well. You did an awesome job!
  • Thanks gents for the kind comments!
  • Really well done. What a great kit and diorama.
  • Thanks Jim! I’m really having a great time building this, whatever the end result may be!
  • Great diorama, I hope you can actually run a train on it. Meaning, soldered electric wires on the rails.. I do this on every diorama and now after putting them all together on the BLC, I am glad I did. Saves difficult work afterwards.
  • The HO scale Deer Creek Station with added scenery and loads of little details to bring it to live. I will need to clean it up here and there and add some small corrections but I will do that once the frontside of the diorama is done. I have thought a lot about the open space that is left and although I first wanted to add a donkey repair shop I decided on a fuel station, a rigging shed and a tool shed. So there's still a lot of work to do but the diorama is around two thirds done. Hope you like the pics, happy modelling, Jeroen DSCF5947

  • Great work! I like your use of details.
  • Thanks Tom, that’s very kind!
  • Wonderful work Jeroen, this is turning out so very well.
Your details and scenery look great, everything is blended and subtle, nothing stands out.
Great colouring, lots of variety in colour but everything blends together. Nicely done.

We all look forward to more.
  • Thanks Karl! When I started this project I set out to do new things, work with thought and precision and learn. There is such great work on display here that I fully realize how ‘green’ I am in this specific part of our hobby. There are many things I would do differently now and that’s perfectly fine. I’m happy with how this is going, happy with all the support and suggestions and even happy that there will be new projects and learning experiences in the future.
