this really is turning into a mighty fine diorama. i also couldn't help but notice the luggage. your paint job on them makes them look like aged leather. really nice detail work all around. everything looks like it belongs there.
So I have been working on two sheds for the diorama. I was contemplating filling the empty space with the donkey repair shop but in the end decide agains it. I'm going to lay a second tracht close to the front of the diorama so I can have the sheds facing towards the viewer. The pics are shot outside because you get a much better impression of the colours. The tool shed will be placed on a platform and then I will need to do the fuel tanks. From there on its painting details, laying track and do some landscaping. There's still a lot to be done but the end of this project starts to dawn on the horizon.....
The weathering and red color of that shed is really nice. The open shed is very well done as well. You are really getting the hang of weathering and coloring the wood walls.

Thanks gents. I’m trying to learn from all of you, delivering such inspiring work, and although far from perfect I’m happy with what it is now. A lot has changed already since my first SW kit. The toolshed was prepped in the way Brett suggests but I used only a little brown chalk and AI to stain the wood. After the walls were completed I added tiny amounts of red pastel pigment on some of the boards. A quick pass with a brush wet with plain alcohol (no ink) sealed the pigment and left just a hint of red. I think that you could repeat this last step, making the red slightly more intense with each repetition. I assume you could do this with other colors as well. I like the effect, as if the once red boards faded or lost their paint completely…
Some more work on the HO scale logging camp. Every camp needs it share of lubes - fuel, oil and more. So this logging camp has its own little fuel station. The tanks behind the fence are in working order, the one outside is slightly overgrown and is not in use anymore. It wouldn't be a big task to get it in working order again though. It probably only would need removal of the small bushes around it and a new plug system. Now its on to detailing the shed alongside it. The end of this project is on the horizon now. Hope you enjoy the pics, happy modelling, Jeroen
Thanks gents, that is very kind. I have to compromise with space in my display cabinet. That means it has less depth than I would like to have had and it’s slightly shorter as well. I left off the original fuel depot and opted for this lay out. I think it works fine and it enables me to keep it all dust free in the cabinet once it’s done. I’m working on the details for the shed now and then it’s on to the details for the rigging shed. Then some last refinements and it’s done.
Looks fantastic Jeroen, your compression of the scene is unnoticed due to the great modeling. The rust colours and textures on the tanks is so well done. Your display case will be a sight to behold and enjoyed by all visitors.
Thanks Bryan, Karl! Its a little to much praise Im afraid but nevertheless I'm very happy with how it all looks. Every new item I start makes me think: now do it better than last time. So I'm learning, and as long as I'm improving its all very rewarding. Thank you for following along, that is a great help!
I finished the details around the little shed today. Now its on to the last part of the diorama, adding more details, completing the scenery and adding a truck in the open space next to the station. These long projects take up a tremendous amount of time but man, it surely is fun. It never seizes to amaze me how Brett knows exactly what should be in the kit to bring it to live and tell all those little stories. I hope you enjoy the pics (I will shoot some outside soon to get the colours right - I never seem to be able to completely succeed in that with those indoor shots). Anyway, I hope you like what you see, all comments welcome!

So good infact that I forgot it was HO and was looking at it through my O scale eyes.
I like the red colour of the tool shed. What is it exactly?
